Te Ramaroa Design & Comms
March Report / Status
Client: Te Ramaroa — Nelson Light Festival
Document: Status & Progress Report
Prepared by: Dylan / SuperNatural
Date: March 2026
Raffle Campaign
- After ~5 months of hurdles, pivots, tweaks, building a custom raffle application, implementing a payment gateway and delivering a creative campaign (including design assets) — the raffle is live and running.
- Created a library of content assets, ran campaign phase 1 with ongoing optimisations to ensure budget efficiency. Campaign is currently paused as budget is light — phase 2 will run post-Easter.
- Monitored purchases for bugs and issues throughout (one issue surfaced at launch and was rectified that same evening).
Internal Housekeeping
- Amanda has started and will be leading the Te Ramaroa project from the SuperNatural side — more hands on deck to manage the workload.
- Built an extensive planning document with up-to-date task management, synced to the master marketing & comms calendar.
Stuff Media
- Face-to-face meetings with Sarah, quotes obtained for advertising and editorials (great deal on offer). Currently paused due to lack of funding / ad spend budget.
NRDA
- Created and delivered media pack.
- Created 2026 email image signature.
- Working on animated banner for newsletter.
- Page takeover for Nelson Tasman website live.
- Face-to-face planning and discussions for newsletters, events, and upcoming business activity.
Nelson City Council
- Met with the NCC comms team and set up a plan for Our Nelson coverage (they are really keen to support).
- Delivered the Raffle asset pack and regularly sending the NCC comms team updates on what we're doing — ensuring maximum push through their comms channels.
Nelson Airport
- Delivered media pack and Raffle campaign assets.
- Planned in content production for screens (Michaela & Shan have locked in a partnership).
Print Partnership
- Met with Cutting Edge to discuss the plan for coreflutes, artist plaques, and screen decals (likely free printing for all coreflutes).
Content & Interviews
- Interviewed Lori Davis — article is a work in progress (waiting on her final content).
HyperFrame Planning
- SuperNatural / Dylan to provide a one-month live TV stream before the event in select windows. The software is owned and managed by SuperNatural and allows us to feed content directly into any smart TV via a playlist — we can also add mini interactives.
- Currently looking at Bayleys, House of Travel, and another Hardy St / Trafalgar St empty store (will lock this in end of April). Window decals to be completed by Cutting Edge; screens and tech provided as a partnership from SuperNatural.
Example only, design is just to illustrate the concept:
Meta Advertising
- Set up campaign audiences and ran ads.
- Seeing really good click-through rates, however people are dropping off before purchase — likely due to the high price point of the raffle.
Socials
- Housekeeping — naming, cover images, uploaded 2023 video content.
- Set up the actual event page and started inviting people.
- Regular posting schedule underway.
- Setup Event Finda listing (not live yet) - this will automatically pull into the Nelson Tasman site.
EDMs
- Sent out 2x newsletters to the mailing list.
- Built automation to welcome standard signups (non-raffle).
- Booked and created Bishopdale / Atawhai sign. Mockup only:
- Created artist plaque designs. Mockup only:
Website
- Map and artwork page design and build complete - images show placeholder content, we're awaiting delivery from artists:
- Artist page design and build complete:
- Regular sponsor logo updates.
- Created new JOIN page for Performers, Volunteers and Food Vendors.
- Built new forms / onboarding process for Performers, Volunteers and Food Vendors + automated emails to operations / managers.
- General fine-tuning and optimisations ongoing.
Other
- Completely rebuilt and redesigned sponsorship deck, and created a handover version for the internal Te Ramaroa team for easy in-house updates.
- Brand consistency — tidied up and created simple brand guides (nothing had been created prior to 2026).
Summary: Full steam ahead, our theme this festival is go hard, go early.
